And right now the hottest new trend that is luring health conscious individuals towards these establishments is CrossFit. You have to be living under a rock to not have heard about it. With all the flashy exercises, it is almost impossible to not take notice. In other words, if there was a CrossFit “box”(gym) near you, you would know. And people just cannot stop talking about it. Especially in West Hollywood, CrossFit is attracting more and more people. When you walk the streets of West Hollywood, CrossFit themed shoes and gym wear will be all that you will see. This just shows how big it has become in the city of West Hollywood. It might not even just be a trend now, but a lifestyle.

Is CrossFit for You?

First question that you have to ask yourself is if CrossFit is right for you. The main requirement is motivation. CrossFit can either be terrific or terrible depending on your mindset. You have to choose the right box as well. Doing CrossFit means joining a community where the competency coaches and mentors will determine whether you will succeed or fail. Setting the goal is also vital. It is going to dictate your routine, point out if you’re lacking or not and lets you assess if you can actually do it or not. And finally, you need to be able to have fun while exercising. CrossFit is a gruelling workout and only the endorphin rush will save you from your muscles crying in pain.

For example, the team is instructed to do a routine which involves doing pushups, you will do as much as you can and that goes for everybody. The police officer might be able to do a hundred. But that does not mean you have to do that much. The key is pushing yourself to the to do as much as you can. If you cannot do a push up at all, you do a knee push up. And if you cannot do that, then a wall push up. It is crucial to know your limit and start from there.

CrossFit can be dangerous. As with any exercise, the perils of the workout can lead to temporary and permanent injuries, and in some cases, even death. That is why it is of prime importance to have a mentor who will guide you through the entire process if you are new to it.

CrossFit is littered with seemingly impossible challenges. The purpose of these is to push yourself to do better than the last time but this can sometimes get lost in translation. Proper form is first and foremost what any practitioner should look out for. High intensity workouts done in the wrong form, extreme speeds without supervision from anyone could be very dangerous.

A group of people that CrossFit often lures are those of the extreme variety. These are headstrong individuals with an almost impossible drive to better themselves. And since CrossFit workouts are run like sports where you are made to compete with each other, these types of people end up forcing themselves to the point of bodily harm. If you are one of these people, you have to let somebody watch you to ensure that you are not going to overdo it.
